New Beginnings

Hey friends,

So many things have happened since my last post. Let me break it all down for ya.

First off, I have a new gun for the 2014 season. It's a Luxe 1.5 with all 2.0 internals, and this gun is so sick and smooth. I love it.

Next, I finally graduated college. After 4.5 years, I can call myself an Alumni of Virginia Intermont College with my BA in Business Administration. I didn't walk yet but I will in May. How ever I did receive my diploma in the mail yesterday which was surprising because it wasn't supposed to come for another 5 weeks. So that was pretty cool.

Today, I had practice at CSP. We had a few of our new players for the D5 squad come out and a few new ones looking to join up. We will have an official tryout in January, so it will be fun to see who comes out and who can make the squad. I will be headed up the D5 squad but play on the D4. I got a few videos from today, not all because I was getting used to this new toy. Below are links to the videos, enjoy.

Now that I home in Richmond, I will have more to post about so stay tuned!

Waiting Game

Hey friends,

I know it has been a while, but mostly cause not much is going on. Still working on getting my new gun, however, sales are being super slow so it is taking longer than expected. We are having tryouts for our D5 square for next season on Saturday down at CSP. That will give me more to post about. I am currently working on getting everything ready in order to graduate in two weeks so I have been super busy with that. I am also thinking about maybe starting to use this Twitter thing I keep hear about.

We did however choose our design for the next season! Pictured below, this is the first proof and are currently awaiting the next with the sponsors and all. Check it out. Super sexy. Until next time!

The times, they are a'changin

Hey Fans,

So things have been changing pretty quickly lately. The DM is sold and gone. I plan on selling a bunch of stuff and then buying a top level gun, preferably a Luxe. We are planning on adding a D5 squad to the organization. So I will be helping with the try outs and bring to find the best people to be a part of our team. this has all happened in the past week. I don't have much to really report just yet, just trying to get ready for the next season. I may be playing for two teams for 2014. I plan on trying out for Richmond Rage D4 squad and play PSP events. That won't be until January so we will see how that goes. Until then, I am just working on getting a new gun and being ready for the upcoming challenges. I will try and be better about posting when things happen.

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting me and following the blog. I came into this thinking that people may not care of laugh at the idea so I didn't release it until I had about 10 posts and since then, this has grown quickly. So I hope y'all have enjoyed my story so far and I promise to keep telling it.

Gun Rebuild Project

Since it is the off-season, I need something to do with my time. I decided that i was going to rebuild my DM7. I am working on a 3-prong rebuild. The first phase is to redo how it shoots. This involves a new trigger and bolt. The next phase is to rebuild the air flow system. I am looking to get an NT style Hyper 3 reg and a UL AirPort. The last phase is the electronics. Virtue eyes and a Virtue board will be installed. This will make my gun shoot better and more efficient. I was considering buy a new gun but I thought this would be both more fun and cheaper.

So far, I have complete phase one. I added a Violent Products Scythe trigger and a Billy Wing bolt. So far, I have notice a huge difference in how the gun feels and shoots. It is super smooth and with the trigger being more to my liking, I am going to be able to continue shooting fools and be as comfortable as ever. Below are pics of my newest toys, and after I sell some gear, I will be moving on to phase 2.

Tippmann Event

Hey friends!

This past Saturday, I played in a small, local, throw-together Tippmann only event at X-Zone paintball in Richmond. Not many teams came out but it was still a fun event to play in. A rental only tournament is a great idea! This tests a player's abilities and not just how much they can spend on a marker. We ended up taking first which was to be expected. But overall, it was a lot fun even though it was hotter than it should have been in October. Just a great way to calm down after the intensity that was Cup. But this is an event I would like to see grow and if they decide to do it again, I will be all for it! I did get some footage of the events and they are posted below!

East Coast Cup & Videos!!!

So this has been a CRAZY weekend. I think it would be best to start from the beginning and then work our way up to Cup. So sit back and enjoy the adventure.

So while my car was in the shop, I picked up a rental car for the trip. I got a pretty amazing Mazda6 with all the bells and whistles which ended up being a HUGE help getting to Westminister, MD. So I drive up on Friday and head straight up 81. I made the huge mistake of trying to make a pit stop in Harrisonburg, VA right by JMU at around 5:30pm on a Friday. Millions of people everywhere and it was a zoo. So pass on through, cut through West Virginia and Maryland. Ended up in Pennsylvania pretty randomly and as soon as I cross over the state line, huge wall of fog rolls into the town onto a little league game, which I though was a little weird. So pass through a few small towns and make my way to Westminister, MD. My teammates hadn't arrived yet, but some of the other players were at the hotel so we all hung out for a bit and waited for Justin and Jennifer to get in which they did around 11ish.

The following morning, we went to Gettysburg since we had never been before. We walked all around and visited Devil's Den. We got some awesome photos and I posted the good ones on my Facebook, so check them out. As we were heading back, we stopped at the Maryland Microbrewery Festival. This is just as amazing a concept as it sounds. So we had some great beers and had a good time. We then went to the field in order to get plays figured out and get an idea of how we were going to be playing matches. We then headed back to the hotel and waited for the rest of the team to show up and when they did we all went to Ruby Tuesdays for team dinner. When we got back to the hotel again we all kinda just hung out at the hotel, cleaning guns, worked on basics and just kinda chilled for a while.

We got up around 5:30am to head to the field for the event. I just feel like we should never be awake before the sun, but whatever. We got underway with the tournament and off the bat we start getting plagued by penalties. This went on all day and not just with our team but all of the teams. The refs were doing a good job but also at the same time making some pretty bad calls. We fought hard all throughout the prelims but with some pretty bad tournaments, we didn't think we were going to advance. Some of our players had already packed up when we got the word that we were advancing. So we get into the quarter finals and it came down to a 3rd point to decide if we would continue. We won by the skin on our teeth and moved on to the semi-finals. We lost the round of the semis but we would be able to play for 3rd place. This means we can either go home with a medal and prizes or empty handed. I knew that I wasn't playing my best so I took over the role of coach. We won the first point and the team was eager to finish this event up strong. We won the second point and earned 3rd place. This is a huge accomplishment. We have really started to play as a team and keep pushing each other to do better. So after the tournament, I had the long 7ish hour drive back to Bristol and I got in around 1:30am, longest day ever.

With the end of the season here, its amazing to see how the team has grown even with the little amount of time I have been apart of it. We will be advancing to D4 next season, and this will present new challenges for us. We will have to grow and practice harder. We will be getting some of the core players back from deployment so it will be a fun 2014 season. So I will keep y'all posted on my off season activities.

Here are the videos from the event! ENJOY!

Week Before Cup

So a few things have been going on this week. We had a blast at the VI Paintball day. Though there were only 5 of us, we had a good time playing with the local ballers. I was working on running and gunning along with diving. I did manage to lose the button shroud of the UL frame on my DM7. So I had to call Dye on monday and place and order for another one. With Cup coming up next week, I have been trying to get everything ready. I had my birthday two days ago and I got a decent amount of money, so I might order new parts or just save up for my Luxe. So many options to consider. I finally got my Spring Ramp for my Spire today and got it installed. So this is the preparation week and making sure everything is going to be good to go.

I have also been looking to join the Paintballers 4 Autism group. I will be trying to get into touch with them this upcoming week. I know they are based out of Mass, but I want to see if there is something we can get started down here in VA. It is a great cause and it is something that I really would like to be a part of. So keep an eye out for updates on that front.

I will post again once I have more news to share along with how ECC is going to be rolling. Take care for now!

Post Grind

Hey friends. So what was going to be a chill 3-man tournament, turned into just a grind that we kept score for. This was a good way to for us to practice in a way that was more intense than just a normal practice. We picked up two new players for Cup and so some of us got used to playing with them. They should be good additions for cup and I think one of them is going to be sticking around for next season. We had enough players in order to run two squads for the grind. We started playing 3-man but then the teams decided that it would be more beneficial if we played 5-man so we switched to that for a few games. We ended up tying for 1st and we just kind of ran out of paint so we couldn't play any more. We played really well and jelled so we should be coming out strong. I preferred playing 5-man since that is what we will be playing more often. I got a few videos from yesterday but during Game 6, I took a hit in the microphone of the camera so the games after that will be more quiet than normal. I think I got it all cleaned today and I will check to make sure later on today. But overall a good practice and I'm getting pumped for Cup in 3 weeks.

Still waiting on people to pay for the school event on saturday which should be fun. I believe we are going to a have a full group, or rather I hope, but we will see here in the next few days.

I am also working on getting everything ready for Cup along with next season. I should be picking up my spring ramp for my spire tomorrow so that will help making shooting a lot easier. But other than that, not much to report on today.

Below are the links to the videos from yesterday. Hope y'all enjoy!!!!

Virtue Paintball and more

So I wanted to take a second and talk about my most recent encounter with Virtue Paintball. First off, let me say, these guys are freaking AWESOME. My Spire loader was starting to get worn on the paddle of the nose cone. So I called them up asking if I could get a new one. I explained my issue and all they wanted to know was where I lived in order to send me the new part...for free. I love their lifetime warranty because they actually hold up to it. There wasn't a lot of red tape that I had to fight through. These guys make great products and make the customer service experience one of the best I have ever had. NOT ONLY THAT, they had me go through the board settings and after a few beeps and LED flashes later, they tell  me they are going to send me a new board as well. So thank you Virtue Paintball, y'all are freaking awesome!!! I will continue to use them for like ever.

I had a rare event happen to me this last Saturday. I was reffing at a local field when I noticed a player that looked awfully familiar. I asked one of my co-workers and he confirmed my suspicions. The player plays for Chattanooga CEP, a pro-level team. When things started to slow down, I was able to hop on the field a bit and play with him. Really cool dude and a great player. It was remarkable to see a top level player joining in on game with people playing for the first time and everyone having fun. You just don't see that with other sports. So that was a cool thing to have been a part of.

A few things coming up here in the next couple of weeks. First, Widow Makers are going to play a 3-man event in Chesapeake, VA on Sunday Sept. 8th. We are planning to run two squads and see how things go. I am going to use this as a glorified practice for East Coast Cup.

On Sept. 14th, I am helping to host the VI Paintball Day out in Blountville, TN at The Alternative Sport. We got people signed up today and I just need to collect money from them here soon. Hopefully we will be able to fill the sign up of 15 and get everyone out there and have a good time and help spread the paintball gospel.

Then comes the big event on Sept. 29th, East Coast Cup. I am so anxious to get to this event. We are going to come out strong and do the best we can. We will be fielding on the the best teams we have ever had and I am so stoked. Only a few more weeks to go. The event will be in Taneytown, MD which is about 6 hours from Bristol. I am going to be one tired pup come Monday morning haha.

Lastly, I have an invitation to play at World Cup playing 10-man with my friend and former captain, Jake Levy. I have to review my funds and see if i can be able to play but, on the flip  side, this will cause me to miss a decent amount of school, so I really need to weigh my options.

Thats all for now, I will post after the 3-man event and let y'all know how it went!!!

Social Paintball Video

Hey friends! Social Paintball finally released their video from the EPL South Event #4 at CSP. There are a few scenes that I am in. Fun tournament and a good video to follow it. Here is the link below:

EPL Event 4

For now, I am working out and trying to be in the best shape I can be in preparation for East Coast Cup. We are still working on the final touches for the event and I will post when we have an official word on the event. We are also looking to play in the CSP 3-man event on Sept. 8th as well as practice on the 7th.

I am also in the works of bringing back the paintball event at Virginia Intermont for Student Activities. The event should take place on Sept. 14th and we hope to have a good turn out. Until then, I am also looking to get back to reffing at The Alternative Sport on weekends to get some money for new parts for the DM7 while saving up for my Luxe.

A lot of things are coming up here in the next few weeks and I will keep y'all posted.

Lastly, I have noticed that a lot of my views are from Russia, so I wanted to say a special Ð¿Ñ€Ð¸Ð²ÐµÑ‚ to my Russian fans!!!

Post-EPL # 4 w/ Videos

After a long trip and many hours of missed sleep, we finally got to play in the fourth EPL event. Throughout the year the team has been coming in last place in every event. However, this event, we came out strong. We were winning games left and right leaving the other teams speechless. A lot of the teams thought that we would be a push over team, but with a few additions and a new coach, we came out swinging. We got all the way to the finals and due to a major penalty, we ended up with second place. This is a huge accomplishment. We are very proud of ourselves and I think it instilled hope in the team. What we need to do now is keep our heads level and just focus on the next event, the East Coast Cup. We are planning on running two squads for that event as well as figuring out the roster for next season.  We are in the middle of planning and making changes and I will post more when I know more about what is going to happen.

We should have a solid spotlight on the Social Paintball video so we are looking forward to see how that turns out.

Post Tourney

Well, I am currently in New Orleans, LA after a long weekend of driving, paintball, and very little sleep. The tournament went ok, we didn't win much but we are still gelling as a team. We need to work on a few things but I see us doing MUCH better at the next event. The camera did GREAT though. I will add more videos later but here is the one from the winning point. I will post more when I have more.

6-17-13

Had my first practice with the new team down in Chesapeake, VA at CSP. I really like how organized this team is. We got there early to set up the field and then got to to work. We mostly focused on communication and figuring out all the best bunkers for us to be in. It should be a good tournament on the 30th and I am looking forward to it. I just need to get my hopper ordered and have my jersey come in. I would like to also get a barrel camera but we will see.

Updated Season Schedule

With joining a new team comes a new season schedule and here it is:

June 30th - EPL South Series #3 Angier, NC
August 4th - EPL South Series #4 Richmond, VA
August 10th - CSP 3-man Chesapeake, VA
September 8th - CSP 3-man Chesapeake, VA
September 29th - EPL East Coast Cup Taneytown, MD

I will not be in the area for most of July so I did not add those dates. We might at the Rage events as well but that is still up in the air. If the schedule changes I will be sure to post.

June 13th 2013

I know it's been about a month since the last post, I'm sorry. But in that month there have been some updates. I have recently joined the team, Widow Makers. They are based out of Chesapeake, VA and are a D5 5-man team. I have my first practice with them on Saturday so that should a lot of fun. We are going to be playing the EPL South series this season along with a 3-man tournament series at CSP Paintball. This should be a good season and I am looking forward to getting started. I need to sell some gear so I can get the Virtue Spire hopper for the team sponsorship deal.

I have been trying to work out a little bit more. I work 35 hours a week and I am taking summer classes so it is near impossible to get to the gym. What I have been doing is walking around the neighborhood each night and I am slowly trying to add more running into the routine each time. I have bad shin splints so I have to ease into the running. I am also doing upper body and core exercises at home after the walk/run. I am trying to stay in shape over the summer and my goal weight is around 170 lbs. I just need to cut 10 more pounds and I will meet that goal. Totally possible.

I will try and post more frequently and i will be sure to post a picture of the new jersey when it comes in!

May 14th 2013

It has been a little while since my last post, but it was been a weird yet busy last couple of weeks. My grandfather passed away on April 13th so that was really rough. he enjoyed coming out to my paintball events and i know that he will continue to do so in spirit. Since his passing, I have had my friend John make a custom design for me. It is at the bottom on the post. I will use this as my official paintball logo from now on.

As far as new paintball news goes, I did get my Ninja 68/45 UL air tank and an arctic HK 4+3+4 harness. I recently played in a tournament on May 11th, at X-Zone paintball. We took fourth out of 5 teams, mostly because the guys I was playing with had never played in a tournament before, so it could have been worse. It was a lot of fun, so I don't see it as a waste but more of motivation to do better the rest of the season.

New development. I am currently working on setting up a charity event for the #helptuckerbreathe campaign. Tucker Gordon is a guy I went to middle school with. he is battling cystic Fibrosis and currently trying to raise $100,000 for a duel lung transplant. I am working with X-Zone in setting up a way to help raise money for the cause. I will have more details on that later. Well that is all that i have been up to and will post again when I have more things.

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

Well it looks like I have my season schedule lined up for the 2013 year. Dates are as follows:

1. May 11th - X-Zone, Richmond, VA
2. June 8th - Mayhem, Kingsport, TN
3. July 21st - Rage in the Cage, Richmond, VA
4. August 4th - EPL, Richmond, VA
5. September 22nd - Rage in the Cage, Richmond, VA
6. November 3rd - Rage in the Cage, Richmond, VA

Should be a good season for me and I'm hoping to do well. Dates are subject to change.

3/30/13

Had a pseudo practice today. Just a fun play day for someone's birthday. Played all day with a party hat on cause that is just how you get it done. I had 11 confirmed kills and only got hit once in 7 games so that made for a good day. Been thinking a lot about my strengths and weaknesses I think it breaks down like this.

Strengths:
1. Gun fighting
2. Sneaky bumps
3. Lately I've been getting at the very least 1 kill per game.

Weaknesses:
1. Not the fastest runner
2. Dyslexic bunker calling
3. Keep having random gun issues

I have a tournament in May but I have feeling confident about it. Just gonna keep working out and hopefully build the muscle to get faster.

sick day

Today I have strep throat but this has given me a lot of time to start planning for this season. I plan on getting some HK Army elbow pads, a new shirt and a continuous flow plug for my Dye DM7. I'm planning on going Ransack for a local 3-man tourney on May 4th but that might be the day of my schools graduation, the one i was supposed to be at had i not changed majors, so decisions decisions.

Background Info

I wanted to give some background info on me and my paintball story this far. I was born and raised in Richmond, VA and I am currently 24 years old. I started playing paintball when I was 14 at Paintball Authority. Two years l started playing for the PBA team which played in the Central Virginia Paintball League or CVPL. I played that series for about a year and then the team disbanded. After that I would bounce between PBA and a smaller local field called Savage Paintball. I had met a couple of players from Savage and we began a new team known as Vengeance. We would work at PBA on Saturdays and have practice on Sundays to work on skills even though we never actually played a tournament. I also had the opportunity to play in the PSP Mid Atlantic Open in 2007 with the team, 2 Live Jews. There were more small teams thrown together and fallen apart for years to come until 2008 when I took a break from playing. these were very long months.

It wasn't until I starting going to my college Virginia Intermont College did I get my second wind for my passion. It started as a student activity to go out and play just for fun. It became with the inception of the VIC Paintball Team. I had recruited, done the paper work, and got the sponsors We played the CFOA 3-man series for about 2 years and we didn't do too and considering it was mostly new players. We would also try and play local tournaments in the NE Tennessee area. The team also helped to promote the sport of paintball by setting up target booths at local Wal-marts as part of the Bonecrusher events. The team has fallen part this school year due to the lack of funds and some of the players had quit. But I hope that we may have left an impression that if a student wants to be able to make something new and different like we did by setting up with first club-sport the school had ever seen, then all they have to do is work for it and anything can happen.

Lately, I have been playing with Richmond Ransack and the first time I had played with them, we took first place in a tournament hosted by Richmond Rage at KPS Paintball in Richmond. So for now I guess I'm going to try and play with them until I finish up with college in December and move to New Orleans. My goal is to play for New Orleans Warped Army which is the professional paintball team for New Orleans. So I guess thats where we will pick up on my story.
Hey friends! I wanted to to start a blog about my paintball career. Kind of a way for people who might want find motivation to do things they never thought they could do. I hope that with this people will learn that if you truly want something, one can never just roll over and call it quits. Instead we need to fight for every step. Even though this will be mostly about paintball, I hope that my journey may help motivate people.
